Carly Buxton Design Headshot

Artist | Designer | Treasure Hunter

With an artist's eye and a love for found materials, I create original artwork and designs that make spaces feel alive, memorable, and authentic. Whether I'm embellishing a painting with vintage kimono fabric or designing a room that brings your vision to fruition, I believe in making beautiful things that actually work in real life.

When I'm not in my Richmond studio or painting en plein air around central Virginia, you'll likely find me at thrift stores and flea markets, following my curiosity and collecting materials for the next creation.

My Design Philosophy

I believe beautiful things should be accessible and authentic. Every space has the potential to tell a story, and every piece of art carries the energy of its materials and maker. My job is to help you discover spaces that stir feelings and feel truly yours.

Why "Buck Stone"?

Buck Stone represents the intersection of strength and creativity—the solid foundation (stone) that supports bold, even risky design choices (buck). It's about taking creative risks while maintaining practical functionality.

The name also reflects my personal journey as a designer. Drawing from my surname, Buxton, I wanted to create something that felt both grounded and gender-neutral—a studio identity that could stand on the strength of the work itself rather than preconceptions. Buck Stone embodies the balance I strive for: the reliability and timelessness of stone with the dynamic, forward-moving energy of bucking convention.
